No Limit Poker Online - Tips and Strategy

"Playing poker online is a completely different game. The reads are based on betting patterns and the length of time a player takes to make a decision. Additionally, a player sees 65-70 hands per hour rather than 35-40. That's almost twice as many."

No Limit Poker Online Versus Land Based Casino Poker

In the articles, "Strategy changes in No Limit Poker" and "Bluffing in No Limit Texas Holdem" we discuss the differences between limit and no limit poker and why bluffing works in the no limit variation of the game. However we should specifically address the point that playing no limit poker online is quite a bit different from playing in a casino. In fact, many of the bluffing tips which you can apply to a casino game can't really be used effectively online. After reading "Bluffing in No Limit Texas Holdem" you should temper the information provided with the thoughts below if you're going to play online.

Online Poker Table Image

In the articles mentioned above we discussed that you should play against your table image when bluffing. By this I mean that you should bluff when everyone thinks you're a tight player. In a casino this means that when everyone notices that you're sitting back in your chair relaxed and waiting for a good hand that this is a sign to fire off a bluff every once in awhile. Unfortunately, in online poker players can not see you thereby making it difficult to create a table image online. Additionally you can't see them which makes it difficult to grasp if they think they're beginning to get a read on you or if they're even paying attention at all.

Does this mean that you can't bluff at all? No, it simply means that you will need to be more cautious when making your moves to buy the pot. Make a few "feeler" bluffs to see how they work and who they work against. If they don't work then wait for strong hands.

In No Limit Poker Online, Players Call

The fact that the "call" button is only a click away makes players call more frequently when playing online in comparison to playing in casinos. It's simply a lot easier to click a button than grab chips and throw them into the pot. Additionally, no one can laugh at your bad call online. Or, at least you don't have to hear it.

Since it's easier for people playing online to call you how should this alter your no limit strategy? Obviously this means that you should be a little more patient and since you're playing no limit once you get a strong hand you can extract the maximum amount of chips from your competition.
