Florida Poker Gambling
The state of Florida has some of the most liberal
gambling laws in the United States. The regulating body in the
state is the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering which is part of
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Its stated mission is to have “efficient, effective and fair
regulation of authorized gaming at pari-mutuel facilities”. The
division regulates cardrooms located at pari-mutuel facilities,
slot machines located at pari-mutuel facilities, thoroughbred
racing, harness racing, greyhound racing and Jai Alai. The
division does not regulate lottery or bingo, neither does it
have it jurisdiction over Indian Gaming, which falls under the
control of Federal authorities. Also “Cruises to Nowhere”, which
involve a cruise ship docking in a Florida Port and then sailing
outside of Florida waters and as such are not regulated by the
division. Florida is certainly not lacking in poker talent. Some of the
biggest names in world poker hail from the ‘Sunshine State’. We

$5,000 No Limit Hold Em 2006 Borgata Poker Open, Atlantic City

Vanessa Rousso profile page. Cousineau has won over $1.3 million in the
past decade. He has one of the most consistent records of all
players on the circuit with numerous cashes year in year out in
a multitude of poker disciplines. Jason has won over $1.5 million over the past 2
decades. He has scored some fine results over the years, but
taking down first prize in the 2006 WSOP $5,000 Pot Limit Hold Em event for $550,764 must rank as his finest achievement. Who still in his mid twenties
has established himself as one of the most formidable players in
the world with tournament winnings of over $5.5Million. His
biggest win came in February 2004 at the $9603 No Limit Hold Em
Main Event WPT L.A. Poker Classic, Los Angeles, winning
$1,859,909. Robert, the eldest of the four Mizrachi brothers, has all time earnings of nearly $1.2
million.
His biggest result happened in November 2004, when he won the
€5000 LIDO Championship at the Master Classics of Poker,
Amsterdam, Holland, winning €372,240 in the process. Tomko has lifetime winnings approaching the
$4 million mark. Year in and year out Tomko has been cashing in major
tournaments for almost 3 decades. The WSOP is perhaps where
Tomko has the happiest of memories, as he has cashed at the WSOP
numerous times. He has also picked up 3 coveted bracelets along the
way, coming all so close in 2001 to the big one, landing second
place in the main event. Florida has an interesting selection of venues for poker
players to choose from. There’s the Dania Jai-Alai featuring
Jai-Alai, the fastest ball game in the world (according to The
Guinness Book of Records). It has greyhound tracks with their
own attached poker rooms, Indian casinos and casino cruises. With all this variety to choose from, it’s no wonder Florida is
producing some of the best players in the world.
