West Virginia Poker - Casino Gambling
West Virginia Poker PlayersHarry Knopp hails from West Virginia, and in 2004, he won the third place prize in the World Poker Challenge 2004 final, a World Poker Tour event. His total winnings were in excess of $150,000 in that tournament event. In 2005, the winner of the seniors' no limit holdem event at the World Series of Poker was also from West Virginia. Paul McKinney of Princetown, WV was the winner of over $200,000 in prize money in that event. Legalization of PokerClubs and fraternal organizations in the state are trying to get legal permission to host poker tournaments and events. This effort is largely being led by the West Virginia Association of Club Owners and Fraternal Service. Being able to offer these games would enable these organizations to attract younger members, and since much of the proceeds from events like this are given to charity, this proposal seems like a win for everybody. Fraternal organizations are seeing drops in memberships, so being able to attract new, young members would enable these clubs to continue their good works in the future.
